The Devonshire Dome in Buxton; now the Devonshire Campus for Derby University, Was originally built in the late 18th century by the 5th Duke of Devonshire as Great Stables to provide facilities for up to 120 horses and accommodation for servants accompanying visitors staying in the Crescent. Nearly a century after the Devonshire Dome was constructed it was converted in to the Devonshire Royal Hospital and eventually in 2001 the University of Derby acquired the Dome to become a campus for the University and Buxton College.

The Pavilion Arts Centre is part of the Pavilion Gardens, Winter Gardens and Opera House complex. Known as 'the old theatre' after the Opera House, went under a complete restoration project and the new Arts Centre opened in 2012. Solomon's Temple is situated at the summit of Grin Hill in Buxton's Country Park and is just a brisk 20 minute walk from Poole's Carven. Built in 1896 to replace an earlier structure constructed by local farmer Solomon Mycock, Solomon's Temple occupies a ancient burial site dating back to the bronze age.

Buxton Opera House set alongside The Pavilion Gardens is only a short walk from the Portland Hotel. The Buxton Opera House was designed by celebrated theatre architect Frank Matcham and opened in 1903. After falling into disrepair in the mid-1970's the Opera House went through a restoration program during the late 1990's and reopened in 2001, celebrating its 100th birthday in 2003.
